The Group Executive Committee has an ambitious 5-year strategy with several concurrent business change projects as a critical delivery arm of this strategy. The role will be independent of the company’s main divisions and will be responsible for the day to day management of the Project Management team who are deployed to large scale business change projects as required.
Reporting to the Head of Strategic Delivery, you will be responsible for the recruitment, allocation, management and personal/professional development of the Strategic Delivery Project Management Team to ensure the successful delivery of the Group’s strategic objectives.

What You Will Do
Day to day line management of the Project Management Team
Provide leadership to the team and coach them through 1-1 discussions ensuring they remain motivated and committed to the teams’ objectives
Developing and managing a talent pipeline to drive recruitment of Project Managers
Recruitment of permanent and where necessary contractor Project Managers
Scheduling & allocation of Project Management resource to projects, maintaining a resource plan and working closely with Sponsors, Programme Managers and PMO to plan for upcoming demand
Create and develop a Centre of Excellence to help and grow the Project Management capability in the wider organisation
Development of Project Management capability and competence, including performance appraisal and personal development plans
Development of career paths for Project Managers and people external to the team wishing to become Project Managers
Agreeing the blended rate with Finance and managing re-charging of Project Managers to projects
Engage fully across the Portfolio to ensure its overall success and the commercial goals are being achieved – provide regular updates, escalate issues and concerns
Engage fully with the relevant stakeholders. Influence and manage stakeholder expectations and resolve any escalations regarding Team members
Manage external delivery partners and contractors when required
What Will You Bring To the Role
Strong team facilitation skills - able to manage and motivate people at all levels in the organisation
Experience of managing large distributed teams
Excellent coaching skills
Proven Project Management experience leading and managing multiple projects and stakeholders with a track record of delivering business change to achieve outcomes and benefits
Experience of working in the relevant business environment (Digital, Supply Chain, Distribution, Finance, Infrastructure)
Strong Influencing and negotiation skills
Remains calm during periods of pressure and / or when dealing with issues
Naturally curious about acquiring new knowledge and best practice
Excellent planning and organisational skills
Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills, able to work across functions, geographies and cultures
Able to communicate confidently and effectively at all levels of the Business and to various stakeholder groups, both in writing and verbally
Ability to challenge constructively, build credibility and work with integrity at all levels within the organisation
Fluent in both verbal and written English
Experience of working in a complex, international project environment
Extensive hands-on delivery experience, understands why organisations use Agile/waterfall/hybrid practices as well how to use them
Degree level education or equivalent
Certified Project Management qualifications e.g. APM, Prince 2, MSP, Agile
Certified Change Management qualifications e.g. PROSCI
Experience of negotiating with and managing 3rd parties
